road trips are nice.
spontaneous road trips are better.
the only window shopping i like to do is..
car window shopping
so recently i’ve been all around the place. 10-days in three different locations for the university student government. so for a little over a week, i got to experience what george clooney experienced in up in the air.. using my room as a hotel room, and the hotel room as my.. room.
when i got home, things were quite okay.. at first. my parents and i, not being used to being away from each other for more than 3 days missed each others’ company dearly. but that lasted only a day. after the transition-back-to-work day, i was once again in reality. my dad was still in my ear nagging me to help him in work, and my mom constantly reminding me to listen to my dad.
parents, i got all-A’s this semester. i think i deserve some kind of a break. and i wont get to do this senior year again, you know?
but, they are my parents. i love them to bits. and i understand that they are just trying to secure my future. but i just sincerely hope and pray that they would just trust me for a change. trust my abilities that i wont screw my life up.
anyways, sorry if i’m a (bit) out of topic, but i just felt that i needed to vent that out. so to end that short version of the long story, i was able to talk to my parents and sort it out with them. that with a little waterworks from both sides. why do i like making people cry? and it felt good to unclog my tear-pipes. i almost forgot how crying felt.
back to car window shopping. note: i’m not a rich kid and we don’t have that much cars at home. so being the car-nut, the closest i can get to owning the cars that i adore is to go to the dealer and check them out (acting like somebody who is serious in buying so that i won’t be put aside by the sales people).
i really want to get one of those crossover SUVs (or compact SUVs) after college or probably working. i just think it makes sense to have, given that i like road trips and i plan to circumnavigate the Philippines by car before i get married (okay, let’s set an age limit for that one: 29 years old). so here are my candidates to be my best buds:
1. Mitsubishi ASX

Good: small, gets good mileage, looks different, has mitsubishi reliability and ergonomics
Bad: not that cheap, might be under powered, plasticky, cargo space might be a problem
2. Toyota Rav4

Good: it’s a Toyota, it’s big
Bad: looks bland, expensive especially in AWD guise, the rear tire mount is a fifty-fifty, no V6 here in the Philippines (?)
3. Subaru Forester

Good: rare, right size, AWD standard, Subaru reputation
Bad: looks date so fast, non-turbo model might be anemic, gas mileage, people who have 3rd gen foresters drive like cocks and i don’t want to be like them
so there. again, i’m not a rich kid that would want to buy any of these today or even brand new. thank God i got frugality from my dad.
so why no fortuners or montero sports you ask? well, they’re too big for my tastes and i’m not really wanting to take the car into doing any serious off roading. plus, i hate the fortuner’s hood scoop and the new one’s tail lights and i don’t like the interior space or lack thereof of the montero sport.
right.
